The idea for the vinyl came about after searching for something different to do for our first release on Over/Shadow. I came across a video of the Split Enz 7" and was fascinated by it, so purchased one from E Bay. My research met a lot of dead ends so it led me to contact the band who recommended I contact Jeff Ayeroff - who worked for the label that released it. After a whole load more investigation and unsuccessful attempts to contact Mike Foster (the man responsible for creating the Split Enz record), I found David Pizzanelli and we chatted about the project. He explained that the process was very difficult to achieve and if I remember correctly - protected by NDA's ?? I was so close and just about to give up when I stumbled on Richard Houghten on Instagram. He was creating the exact record we wanted so we stayed in touch and I observed him perfecting the craft. Richard created our wonderful record and the whole project was quite a big operation for us but we are super proud of what we have achieved.

I still aim to try and do this myself one day but just need to crack the code...

An Invitation

The Jonathan Ross Hologram Collection website has been running for fifteen years so we decided it was time for a new look.

The new format has scope for lots more material so I would like to invite all the holographers whose work is featured here to submit background information, stories and images to supplement those I have provided. That way we can work together to make this the best resource on holographic imaging to be found on the web.

About the Collection

The Jonathan Ross Hologram Collection, based in London, UK, is one of the largest resources in the world for creative, display and commercial holography.

A number of touring exhibitions, containing work from the collection, have been presented in outstanding museums and galleries both within the UK and abroad. Information about new acquisitions and exhibitions is added here on a regular basis.
