Eve Ritscher

Eve Ritscher, who has died from pancreatic cancer, was a driving force in the promotion of holography as an art medium during the 1980s.

Following a period of research during the late 1970s , which took her to the former Soviet Union as well as Europe and the USA, Eve organised a number of high profile and popular exhibitions notably Light Dimensions: The Exhibition of the Evolution of Holography which opened at the Royal Photographic Society in Bath in June 1983 and transferred to the Science Museum in London for a highly successful and extended run.

Gaining respect from the international holographic community as a reliable and sympathetic producer, Eve also brought together a fine selection of holographic work for Light Years Ahead at The Photographers Gallery in London and The Craft of Art at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool.

Her personal collection of holograms was acquired by Jonathan Ross in 1992.

An Invitation

The Jonathan Ross Hologram Collection website has been running for fifteen years so we decided it was time for a new look.

The new format has scope for lots more material so I would like to invite all the holographers whose work is featured here to submit background information, stories and images to supplement those I have provided. That way we can work together to make this the best resource on holographic imaging to be found on the web.

About the Collection

The Jonathan Ross Hologram Collection, based in London, UK, is one of the largest resources in the world for creative, display and commercial holography.

A number of touring exhibitions, containing work from the collection, have been presented in outstanding museums and galleries both within the UK and abroad. Information about new acquisitions and exhibitions is added here on a regular basis.
