HOLOGRAPHIC MOVIES

Animated holograms, known variously as Integral holograms, Multiplex holograms and Holographic Stereograms, derive from sequences of film, photography or video, synthesised with holography in an optical printer to be ultimately viewed  as a sort of hands-free 3D flick book.

This selection incudes work produced at the Royal College of Art, at holographic labs in the USA and, more recently, digitally printed holograms from European labs.

I have never really got on with video as an artform. It always seems too linear and demanding.
But I love these holographic movies which you can play back and forth at your own speed and interrogate however you like to extract the maximum amount of pleasure.
